Level 3 course is the last and certainly the most exciting phase in order to be certified as a sommelier. It focuses on how to pair dishes with wine.
This technique is a clear concept with specially developed teaching and learning materials and a sophisticated methodology for analysing suitable food and wine combinations.

To be admitted to a level 3 course you need to have successfully completed level 1 and 2.
The previous levels may also have been completed at any of the schools associated with Europäische Sommelier Schule.
The Eurosommelier Level 3 Award in Wines consists of 30 hours of study, including 18 hours of course by one of our Eurosommelier certified educators. The program takes place over 3 consecutive days, with classes from 9 am to 5 pm with lunch breaks, study time and exam included.
With 6 hours of course each day, the class will use presentations, discussions and tastings to tackle the key points presented in the teaching material. During the course, you will taste 44 wines from the main wine-producing regions of France, Europe and the New World.
Sessions are limited to 10 students.
Once your registration for a session is validated, you’ll receive your course material, containing a textbook, study guide, self-assessment exercises, and summary sheet of the European School for Sommeliers. The program includes presentations, discussions and visual aids, as well as guided tastings and self-assessment exercises. The educator will answer your questions and encourage dynamic and interactive exchanges.
After the course is completed it´s time for the exam.
In Berlin the exam will take place at the School site Groninger Strasse 48 – 13347 Berlin
In Hannover the exam is c/o Difonzo Eat – Isernhagen Hannover
The examination consists of two parts:
The first step is a written exam consisting of both open and multiple-choice questions covering all three levels. You have 120 minutes to answer. To pass, at least at 60% of the answers must be right.
The exams will be corrected immediately. If you pass the written exam, you will directly after do the next part.
The second step in the exam is a practical part, where you in front of the committee do a blind sensoric analysis, describing the wine and an oral exam on contents of all three levels including questions about service, oenology etc.
Note: Because of the practical part the Sommelier Exam is not possible to do ONLINE
